The pain of betrayal is something that is not commonly understood, until you’ve walked the journey.
There are so many unanswered questions that swirl through one’s mind when a husband’s infidelity and porn addiction is first discovered. And often, this experience leaves women feeling isolated and alone.

Managing Expectations
Husbands, upon confessing, tend to expect forgiveness. There is an expectancy for life to return to normal. Meanwhile, the wife’s heart is uncontrollably bleeding all over the place.

Managing personal feelings combined with feeling the need to protect the children can be overwhelming. Additionally, women now struggle with how to support their husband on his recovery journey.
It becomes easy to fall into the ebb and flow of life, just putting one foot in front of another. But it’s vital to focus on your personal self-healing.

Often, as women, we’re not sure how to start this process. With limited help available publicly for those of us who have faced betrayal, we can become lost in the thought that this is merely a man’s problem. The enemy deceives us into believing that our man is the only one who needs recovery.
But the truth is, if we want to move forward in life, we have to accept our own need for support.
We cannot look at all of the broken pieces of our lives and expect that someone else will put them together. We have to proactively begin to create our own story, one that has been foraged through laughter, tears, and even heartbreak.

Create Your Story
Dr. Doug Weiss, who is featured in the Conquer Series, along with his team at the Heart to Heart Counseling Center in Colorado Springs hold conferences to help ladies begin to heal.
Women are given tips on how to begin their life after betrayal. They also received advice on establishing boundaries and creating a safety plan for post-disclosure.
Two tracks were offered.
One was for those striving to allow healing to take place within their marriage.
And, the other was for those whose husbands may not have been willing to commit to recovery. For them, this has resulted in separation or divorce.
These women walked away from this weekend with new friendships that are helping them walk into their future.
